What We Do
We practice Anabolic Medicine sm.
Many illnesses, i.e., pathologic conditions, are characterized by "catabolism."
Catabolism is "a destructive type of metabolism" and is characterized by the "break down" of the body.
"Catabolism" is the opposite of "anabolism" and "anabolic" is the opposite of "catabolic."
At The Anabolic Clinic sm we believe that anabolic steroids and other anabolic substances offer an opportunity to gain relief from certain conditions and their consequent symptoms.
This belief is based on our understanding of the literature which demonstrates the usefulness of anabolic steroids and other anabolic substances in a number of conditions, including some where catabolism plays no direct role, e.g., overweight/obesity.
These conditions are listed below. This list is the same one that appears on our home page.
Further, there are data to suggest that anabolic steroids and other anabolic substances may prevent or delay certain illnesses and conditions from developing.
Allegedly, there are some risks to the use of anabolic substances in persons who are too young. These are considered to be individuals who can still undergo additional bone growth, i.e., their skeletons are not mature. Skeletal maturation is considered to be completed by 18-25 years of age.
By Symptom
Here are some of the symptoms of low testosterone, the prototypical anabolic steroid:
Low testosterone is
associated with the following in men AND women:
Loss of muscle
and muscle mass
Weakness
Loss of
strength
Fatigue –
feeling “burned out”
Decreased
stamina
Decrease in
competitiveness
Memory lapses -
forgetfulness
Decreased
mental ability
Foggy thinking
Bone loss –
predisposes to injuries and fractures
Malaise – lack
of drive or energy
Sleep
Disturbances
Hot sweats
Numbness,
tingling, blanching of toes and fingers, especially in the cold
Aches and pains
By Condition
Aging-Associated Conditions:
Hypoandrogenemia (low testosterone in men AND women)
Cognitive Disorders
Including Alzheimer Disease
Depression
Loss of Energy
Loss of Libido (sexual desire)
In both men AND women
Osteoporosis (a major cause of injury and loss of independence in men AND women)
Sarcopenia
Frailty that comes with aging (a major cause of injury and loss of independence in men AND women)
Weakness
Autoimmune Diseases:
Raynaud’s Disease/Phenomenon
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Scleroderma (Systemic Sclerosis)
Body Composition:
Building lean tissue mass and reducing fat mass
Bone and Joint Disorders:
Osteoporosis (a major cause of injury and loss of independence in men AND women)
Cardiovascular Diseases:
Angina Pectoris
Congestive Heart Failure
Coronary Heart Disease

Including Alzheimer Disease
Male Contraception
Mental Disorders:
Depression
Muscle Wasting:
Associated with Chronic Illness

Rehabilitation/Recovery from:
Burns
Heart Attack
Hospitalization
Injury
Joint Replacement
Stroke
Wounds
Renal Failure
Sexual Activity-Related Conditions (all ages):
Breast insensitivity
Difficulty achieving orgasm
Erectile dysfunction
Failure to achieve orgasm
Loss of libido
Painful intercourse
Uncomfortable intercourse
Vaginal dryness
Weak orgasms
Type 2 Diabetes
Wasting associated with:
AIDS/HIV
Cancer
Chronic Diseases
By Age
In general, clients at The Anabolic Clinic sm will be age 26 or older, though we will consider accepting clients as young as 18.
The reason for this is that the skeleton does not complete maturation until between the ages of 18 and 25. There are some who believe that taking anabolic substances before the skeleton is fully mature can lead to complications.
Consider the following as a rough guide (conditions more common in one category can be seen in the other) to the conditions for which anabolic substances have shown value, by age:
Age 26 - 40:
Hypoandrogenemia (low testosterone in men AND women)
Raynaud’s Disease/Phenomenon
Male Contraception
Muscle wasting associated with chronic illness, e.g., HIV/AIDS, cancer
Type 2 Diabetes
Age 40+:
